Total covers the economic activities Manufacturing (C), Electricity and steam supply (D), Water supply and waste management (E), Construction (F), Wholesale and retail trade (G), Transportation and storage (H), Accommodation and food service activities (I), Information and communication (J), Financial and insurance activities (K), Professional, scientific and technical activities (M) Public administration (O), Education (P), Human health and social work activities (Q) and Arts and recreation (R) (NACE rev. 2).
The economic activities Accommodation and food service (I) and Professional, scientific and technical (M) are not fully covered, therefore breakdown is not published in those sectors.
Information and communication (J)
In economic activity Information and communication (J) small enterprises are missing, so the coverage present is about 60%.

1 Wages and Salaries (%)
Wages and salaries is sum of basic wages and salaries, additional allowances, expenses payments, bonus payments, shift premium, sickness pay, overtime pay, piecework, irregular bonuses, lump-sum payments, payments in kind, allowances for transport and other irregular payments.
2 Employers' social contributions (%)
Employers' social contributions is sum of remuneration paid for leave, pension fund contribution, social security tax, sickness fund payment, vacation (union) housing fund fee and other labour costs.

Labour cost is sum of wages and salaries and employers' social contributions.Taxes not included.
Taxes (million ISK)
The variable taxes cover all taxes based on the wage and salary bill or on employment. It is insignificant part of Icelandic labour costs in most economic activities.
