Exchange rate index

31.12.1991=100. The index shows the average exchange rate of the króna for each period. From September 6, 1995, the trade (goods and services) weighted basket of 16 currencies replaced the former basket of US dollar (18%), ECU (76%) and Japanese yen (6%). New index equivalent to the old Exchange Rate Index on January 2, 2009.

Merchandise trade-weighted currency basket

1983=100. The merchandise trade-weighted currency basket is based on merchandise trade with Iceland's major trading partners in 1998, which has been partially adjusted for third-country effects of fish exports. The basket is composed of nine currencies. Before 1995, each year's currency basket reflected a three-year average merchandise trade-weighted basket of 17 currencies, less the weight for the immediately preceding year.
