Classification according to the 9th revision of Who’s International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9) (1986-1995) and to it's 10th revision (ICD-10) (1996-2004). The table shows main causes of death according to the European shortlist. Total figures deviate from previous publications (1981 the number of deaths increases by 3, by 2 in 1987 and declines by 2 in 1989). The European shortlist is available in the detailed information section for ICD-10, ICD-9 and ICD-8.
