Average population is the average of the population at the start and the end of the year. Statistics Iceland revises the boundaries of urban nuclei every 5 years in years ending with 0 or 5. The boundaries are found by concatenating addresses in a municipality within 200 m mutual distance. Sports arenas are included if needed. A 400 m zone is drawn around the urban nuclei thus found. Minimum population is 50 persons at the time of review. Statistics are published for the whole 5 year period, as well as the next 5 year period even if the population falls below 50.
