Until 2000: The Icelandic Dentists' Association. 2001 and onwards: The Directorate of Health (practicing dentists: all dentists in the Register of Dentists, 70 years and younger at the end of the year and with permanent residence in Iceland).

Physicians and surgeons

Until 2002: The Directorate of Health. Data from inpatient care institutions, health centers and The State Social Security Institute. 2003 and onwards: The Directorate of Health (Physicians licensed to practice in the Register of Physicians, 70 years and younger at the end of the year, with permanent residence in Iceland and registered domicile in Iceland).

Proprietary pharmacists

Proprietary pharmacists are also pharmacists and are therefore also included in these numbers.

Social workers

Until 2002: The Directorate of Health. Figures refer to those working in inpatient care institutions and health centres. 2007 and onwards: The Icelandic Association of Social Workers.
