The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service started regular radio broadcasting on 20 December 1930. Transmission hours of Channel 1, Channel 2 and regional programmes. Figures are rounded to the nearest decimal and do not necessarily add up to the total.
Combined night broadcasts on Channel 1 and Channel 2 are counted under Channel 2.

Since in the mid-year 1999 until in spring 2003 the private radio station Útvarp Suðurlands iwas responsible for regional broadcasts from the South transmitted simultaneously on Channel 2 by a special agreement with the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service. Broadcasted hours are not included in the number of total yearly hours of the regional programmes of the Icelandic Broadcasting Service-Radio.
