The figures are based on cohorts born 1988-1994 retrieved from the national registry when individuals in the relevant cohorts are 16 years old and domiciled in Iceland. Classification of origin/background is derived from data on immigrants and persons with foreign background which are compared with the students' register. In these data no attempt is made to do a follow up of individuals who are not enrolled in schools and therefore they should not be interpreted as drop-outs from school. Some may have graduated, some emigrated and some might be deceased.
