New entrants are those who are studying at the tertiary or doctorate level in Iceland for the first time according to the Statistics Iceland student register. The top line in the column ISCED level depicts those who are new entrants at either ISCED levels 5 or 6. When 5A, 5B or 6 are selected new entrants at each of these levels can be obtained. It is not possible to add the number of new entrants at levels 5A, 5B and 6 to obtain the total number of new entrants at levels 5 and 6, since then some new entrants will be double-counted. Education is classified according to the international classification of education ISCED97.
