Slovenia

Until 1992 Slovenia was a member of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Persons are classified as born in Slovenia who declared this when registering for the first time after 1991 or who have changed their registration after that. Some persons born within the current boundaries of Slovenia may still be registered as born in Yugoslavia.

Slovakia

In 1993 Czechoslovakia was divided into the Czech and Slovak Republics. Persons are classified as born in Slovakia who declared this when registering for the first time after 1992 or who have changed their registration after that. Some persons born within the current boundaries of Slovakia may still be registered as born in Czech or Slovak Republic, unspecified (Czechoslovakia).

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Until 1992 Bosnia and Herzegovina was a member of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Persons are classified as born in Bosnia and Herzegovina who declared this when registering for the first time after 1991 or who have changed their registration after that. Some persons born within the current boundaries of Bosnia and Herzegovina may still be registered as born in Yugoslavia.

Croatia

Until 1992 Croatia was a member of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Persons are classified as born in Croatia who declared this when registering for the first time after 1991 or who have changed their registration after that. Some persons born within the current boundaries of Croatia may still be registered as born in Yugoslavia.

Serbia

Serbia was created in mid 2006 after Montenegro had resigned from the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro which in turn was created as the successor to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in early 2003. Persons are classified as born in Serbia who declared this when registering for the first time 2006 and later or who have changed their registration after that. Some persons born within the current boundaries of Serbia may still be registered as born in former republics of Yugoslavia.

Former Soviet Union

The Soviet Union were dissolved by the end of 1991. Persons who are classified with the former Soviet Union as country of birth entered Iceland prior to that and have not changed their registration status since then. In 1992 some persons were also allowed to enter Iceland with the former Soviet Union as country of birth.

Countries in former Yugoslavia, unspecified

In early 2003 the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was formally dissolved and replaced by the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. This confederation was in turn dissolved in mid 2006. Persons are classified with a country of birth in former republics of Yugoslavia if they were registered with a Yugoslavian country of birth after early 2003 or with a Serbian and Montenegrin country of birth after mid 2006.

Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro)

Between 1992 and 2003 the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was constituted solely by Serbia and Montenegro. This was succeeded by the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, which lasted until mid 2006. Persons are classified as born in Serbia and Montenegro who declared this when registering for the first time 2003 to 2006 or who have changed their registration after that. Some persons born within the current boundaries of Serbia and Montenegro may still be registered as born in Yugoslavia.
