New entrants are those who are studying at the upper secondary level in Iceland for the first time according to the Statistics Iceland student register. The column Type of study depicts how those who are new entrants at the upper secondary level are split between general and vocational programmes. Education is classified according to the international classification of education ISCED 2011 (International Standard Classification of Education 2011). Classification of background is derived from population data on immigrants and persons with foreign background. The year in the table refers to the first year in the school year. E.g. 2016 refers to the school year 2016-2017.
