Immigrant is defined as an individual that is born abroad and has parents that both are born abroad and have a foreign background. That means that both grandparents are born abroad. Length of stay in Iceland is calculated as the number of years since an immigrant is first registered into the country. This calculation does not take into consideration whether the individual has deregistered from the country and returned at a later time.
