Some key figures from Iceland's climate accounting (NIR). This accounting is shown in full breakdown in PX table UMH31108, but here some key figures are extracted for simplicity.
Iceland's National Inventory Report is a summary of greenhouse gas emissions that occur within Iceland's territory. This includes all emissions from on land due to energy production and material use, as well as emissions from livestock and land changes that have been made by humans. This also includes all emissions from fishing, sailing between domestic ports and from domestic flights.
International marine trarnsport and international air transport is not included in this accounting.
Actions that have a direct impact on greenhouse gas emissions are included here, but the trading of emission credits, the purchase of carbon offsets and other types of investments do not affect these figures.
These figures are Iceland's current accounting for the Icelandic administration's obligations to the United Nations Climate Council (UN-FCCC). Commitments cover, in some cases, only sub-items in this accounting.
