Now you have come to the page, Choose variable. This page give you the oportunity to select which variables and values you want to display in your result of the table. A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

The indicators here are defined according to UN instructions related to material consumption and circular economy When using these indicators for analysis, it is good to keep in mind.
- Figures on the material flow of minerals for construction have a large impact on all scales, as a large volume of heavy material is used in construction. Quantities of minerals are also more uncertain than other quantities in the data collection
- Imports of metals include pure metals, metal oxides and silicon oxide, while exports in the same categories are probably refined metals. The oxygen released during the process is not included in these figures.
- The weight of exported fish is significantly lower than the raw weight of fish taken from the environment. Fish processing removes a lot of water from the fish, which is released into nature. The amount of water 'lost' in this process is only included in some of these measurements.

Indicator

Domestic extraction (DE)

Mass of raw material extracted from nature

Import

Weight of processed, semi-processed and raw material imports

Export

Wegith of processed, semi-processed and raw material exports

Direct material input (DMI)

Domestic extraction + Imports

Direct material consumption (DMC)

DMI - exports

Physical trade balance (PTB)

Imports - exports

Domsetic processed output (DPO)

Emissions of non-recoverable material (gas emission, emissions to water and solid waste outside controlled landfills)

Net addition to stocks (NAS)

DMC-DPO with correction term for input oxygen and emitted water in manufacturing
