The inflow here is the total output of power plants before transmission losses and the energy producers' own use. This number is different from the primary energy consumption of energy producers, which is the energy taken from nature for production.
Imported energy materials are here given a fixed energy density regardless of origin.
Use here is the final use of materials for energy production or for other purposes (e.g. asphalt).
Limits of the economy cover all operations that take place under an Icelandic identification number, no matter where it takes place in the world. Foreign entities with operations in the country are not considered within the economy.
The division of the economy is done here according to the pan-European classification system: NACE*64 rev 2 and is the same division as is used in the system of national accounts. This division is the same as the ISAT2008 sectoral division of Statistics Iceland
