Now you have come to the page, Choose variable. This page give you the oportunity to select which variables and values you want to display in your result of the table. A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

The number of vehicles is based on the registration of the operato/owner of vehicles in August each year.
This registration also assumes that the person in question is responsible for driving the vehicle and buying fuel that year.
The statistics only considers vehicles in the UN/ECE categories; M1 (passenger cars), M2 (minibuses), M3 (buses), N1 (dispatchers), N2 (couriers) and N3 (heavy goods vehicles).
Motorcycles, off-road vehicles, mining tools and emergency vehicles are excluded here.
The annual driving of vehicles is estimated based on the data in the vehicle condition inspection. It is expected that private car traffic will be higher from Easter to the Bank Holiday than during the winter months. This seasonal cycle is controlled based on road counts of the road agency. Mileage for vehicles with missing inspection numbers is estimated using artificial intelligence calculations comparing similar vehicles and registered occupiers. The fuel requirement of vehicles where values are missing is estimated based on the weight of the vehicle (specific gravity plus a quarter of the vehicle's carrying capacity) and driving speed (50 km/h in good conditions). Fuel consumption is then calculated based on the energy content of the fuel assuming that the energy efficiency is according to the manufacturer or 30%. Total fuel consumption is calculated by multiplying the energy requirement by the driving distance for the year. The average vehicle mileage is calculated for all vehicles whose mileage is over 100 km per year and under 160,000 km per year.

Gasoline

Includes petrol cars and petrol/electric hybrid cars that do not offer plug-in charging

Diesel and methane

Here are petrol cars and petrol/electric tin cars that do not offer plug-in charging

Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles

Electric cars, hydrogen cars and plug-in hybrids. Here it is assumed that those cars are driven on fuel for 75% of the distance traveled
